You can make changes to what’s displayed on your letterhead or document header and footer by editing the document container template of your specific document type.   This article will outline how to make changes to an individual document container using Word.

Table of Contents

Getting Started

Ensure that you’re familiar with the Document Containers feature, where information used to automatically fill in headers and footers of documents is managed.

Entering Modify mode

All changes to a document container must be done in Modify mode in Word. To enter Modify mode:

1.    Select the gear icon from the top-right corner of the triConvey Desktop App.

2.    Select Document Containers from the left menu.

3.    Right-click on the document you wish to edit and then select Modify

4.    The document container template will open in Word in Modify mode.

Add information fields to the document container

The right panel in Word is where you can browse and insert automation fields into the document container.  To insert a field:

1.    Click on the place in the document where you want the field to display.

2.    Double-click the field name from the side panel.

3.    Select Insert.

Tip:  If you wish to edit a field that's located in the header or footer, double-click the header/footer area first to access the ability to edit it.

If the document container displays incorrect information (e.g. a typo in your street address), check Firm Details in triConvey Settings. triConvey obtains field information from the data entered in Settings.

If the information has been entered incorrectly in triConvey Settings, update it, and the document container will be automatically updated with the correct information.

Change fonts and margins on document containers

You can further customise document containers to match the look and feel of your firm's brand. Learn how to make styling changes on document containers.

Additional tips

Use the Show/Hide feature in Word to help you format the document.

Ensure that all changes made to your letterhead flow through to all precedents by modifying other document containers as well. Some document containers you may wish to check are the Letter and No Footer.
